A name is only the beginning.
An authorised company and an unfamiliar website can be two very different things. We keep each assessment separate.
Each check is answered separately from its own source. They are never combined into a score.
Is the company authorised?
Identify the legal entity. Match the company and licence against a documented regulatory source.
Is this website really theirs?
Check the exact domain. Look for an evidenced link between that company and the website you were given.
Has a regulator warned about it?
Read warnings and limitations. Review official notices, source dates and questions that still need an answer.
What each answer means
- Verified against evidence
- The stored official evidence matches this question, and it is no more than 30 days old. It describes the record, not the safety of an investment.
- Unverified
- No matching official evidence is on file yet. That is not proof of a problem: check the register yourself.
- Several possible matches
- The evidence points to more than one company or record. Check which legal entity your contract names.
- Restrictions apply
- The register lists the authorisation with restrictions, or not for your country.
- Inactive
- The register lists the authorisation as no longer in force.
- Official warning match
- A regulator has published a warning naming this company or website. Read it in the regulator’s own words.
- Possible impersonation: review needed
- The website resembles one officially linked to a licensed company, but it is not the same address. Similarity alone is not proof.
- Source unavailable
- The source could not be checked, or our copy is older than 30 days, so no answer is given.
How fresh the evidence must be
An answer counts as verified only when both the date of the source information and the date we checked it fall within the last 30 days. A recent download of an old register does not make it current, and a missing or future date is never treated as fresh.
How a record reaches the public
Register data is imported and saved as dated snapshots. A person reviews each record before publication, and every decision is stored with its reason in an audit log. Customer experiences are moderated separately and never count as official evidence. To correct a record, write to us from the contact page; appeals receive a reply within 14 days.
Verification completeness
A preliminary check compares the evidence currently held. Unresolved or stale information requires human review. No finding guarantees safety.
Commercial relationships never determine regulatory findings. Missing evidence is never proof of fraud. An authorisation does not guarantee an investment or a withdrawal.
